Protection against skin cancer can be obtained by drinking coffee. Recent research shows women who drink more than three cups of coffee per day had a 21 percent lower risk of developing basal cell carcinoma (BCC).?As for the men, the risk can be reduced by 10 percent. According to researchers of chronic exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet radiation is a major factor in basal cell carcinoma.
Research shows that the reduced risk of basal cell carcinoma seen in participants who often drank coffee and participants who consumed the same amount of caffeine from other sources, including tea, chocolate and soda.
"These results really suggest that the caffeine in coffee is responsible for lowering the risk of basal cell carcinoma," said Jiali Han, professor at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, reported in the FoxNews (3/7).
According to Dr. Josh Zaichner, dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, caffeine may help the body kill the skin cells damaged by ultraviolet light exposure. By killing the cells are damaged, then the opportunity to grow into cancer, will be even lower.
